Express Diagnostics - Heart Tests
Since 1994 Express Diagnostics (then known as Cardio Analytics) has provided local GPs and Clinics with Cardiac Investigation services and for the past five years has been contracted by both the Plymouth PCT and South Hams PCT to provide a range of non invasive cardiac investigations. All of these procedures are also available to the private patient as a self referral procedure. If you are on an NHS waiting list for these procedures and are not prepared to wait, then book an appointment with Express Diagnostics and we will aim to see you within 10 days. All of our procedures are carried out by qualified and experienced Cardiac Physiologists, with full support from our in house Consultant Cardiologist.
Echocardiography and ECG's
Echocardiography is one of the most versatile non-invasive imaging techniques giving structural and functional information of the heart using the same technology as that used for ultrasound of the unborn baby. Express Diagnostics employs a team of highly experienced sonographers, who are accredited by the British Society of Echocardiography. An Echo will take approximately 30 minutes and is completely pain free with results available immediately after the procedure.
An ECG records the hearts activity and rhythm and is a very useful tool to detect a variety of Heart related abnormalities as well as ensuring that the heart is in good working order. The test itself is completely painless and takes no longer than 15 minutes where you will be asked to lay down and 10 adhesive pads will be attached to your legs, arms and chest. Your results will be available immediately after the test.

Exercise Tolerance Tests
The Exercise Tolerence Test or ETT is a test which is designed to assess the coronary artery blood flow of the heart. Using this test we are able to detect signs of 'furred up' arteries which are the precursor to conditions such as angina or mycardial infarction (heart attack). The procedure itself is painless and involves exercising on a treadmil whilst being attached to an ECG and blood pressure monitor. The ETT is carried out by fully qualified Cardiac Physiologists with full support from our in house Cardiologist.
